ARTISTIC
CURRICULUM VITAE
My
name is Ciro Cirri. I make "photographic sculptures", a kind of
fusion between the flat image of a photo and some external elements
such as iron rods, nails, layers of metal which, together with the
picture, create a tridimensionality of the work, keeping in itself
the tearing power that I want to show.
My
work is a work on the soul and the inner tearings of the human being.
I use the aesthetic of an external and concrete model to convey
an inner feeling. In short, if I suffer, no-one notices it but if
I tear my flesh and write in it what disturbs me, my feeling is
immediately understood.
I
was born in Pinerolo, a town near Turin, in 1963. I am a musician
and since 1996 I've been working as a painter and photographic sculptor.
In
1997 I organised my first personal art exhibition called "Blue Olives".
I run it on my own at a place called the Knights' Hall in Pinerolo.
In
1998 I found a deserted school near my town and I asked the local
authorities the permission to restore this building and use it as
an art gallery. A year later it was ready to host my second personal
exhibition named "I'm only Ciro Cirri". The school was re-painted,
cleaned and made safe thanks to some friends and little money.
The
same year I started to collaborate with two Italian Galleries: En
Plein Air and Velan Studio (contemporary art).
In
1999 together with En Plein Air I took part in the collective exibition
"One day at a time" and in the "Project Mayonnaise" as a music performer.
In
addition to that, I was present at the Turin Art Fairs ARTISSIMA
2000 and BIG 2000.
With
Velan Gallery I also took part in VERSUS VI.
Since
2001 I haven't realised any exibition or co-operations any longer
but my research is going on uninterrupted.
